Press release: 19th November 2022
International Men’s Day, on the 19th of November, sets out to promote positive male role models and celebrates the important contributions men make to society, the community as a whole, their workplace and of course their family. In addition, International Men’s Day brings a stronger focus on the physical, mental health and overall wellbeing of men, together with improving gender relations and equality.
CME’s Ryan Parris represents the positive aspects of a male role model having achieved several significant milestones to date in his career with the company. Starting as a young apprentice in 2010, Ryan spent much of his early apprenticeship working on the shop floor gaining experience in a diverse range of machining operations, whilst also spending time in the assembly area on detail assembly tasks. In the final year of his apprenticeship Ryan gained additional design related skills within the company’s Technical Department.
Throughout this period, Ryan also gained several vocational qualifications, including an NVQ Level 2 in his first year, and an NVQ Level 4 in Engineering Leadership in his 4th year. These achievements were followed up with a Foundation Degree in Engineering Systems at Bridgwater College, and a Top Up Degree from (UWE) the University of the West of England – Bristol.
On completion of his apprenticeship, Ryan joined the design team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, this led on to a new role as Lead Designer and for the last 4 years he has been CME’s Applications Lead Design Engineer. Ryan’s design expertise now supports the Sales function, as he is heavily involved in systems conceptual design, developing machine and system specifications, together with cost estimating as the company expands into new markets that require bespoke machine solutions. Notably, Ryan is named on 2 patents one for the company’s AutoCone, and the second on a Child Safety Device related to the cannabis sector.
In his personal life, 30-year-old Ryan was married in 2021 and the couple are now expecting their first child on New Years Day 2023. In the limited time he has available outside of work, Ryan is an active footballer and is also working with his club – Chard Town – as they progress their planning applications and plans for relocation to a new ground.
